We always hear that we’re supposed to read the Bible, but why? Doesn’t it take someone who has been to school for years to learn how to actually read it? Isn’t it just an old book? We have a lot of misconceptions when it comes to how to engage the Bible, but what is true? How can we begin to engage the Bible?

It seems like everyone is wanting something from us. People are always asking us for things. Teachers want us to turn in homework, parents want us to do chores, and businesses want us to buy things. People always want things from us, so naturally we begin to think God responds to us the same way. But what if God didn’t want something from us, but something for us?

What are you listening to about yourself, and is it true? We often find our security in life in things of this world that end up failing us and giving us thoughts of insecurity. The reality is that these insecurities, these lies that the enemy tries to fill our heads with, can never separate us from the love and desire that God has for us. Our security can only be found in His truth.

Rejection is the reminder that dating isn't always fun. It's the opposing force to the purpose of dating. So why should we pursue dating if it may end in rejection? Also, how do we handle rejection, if we do decide to date?

We are called in scripture to find and follow mentors, but why? What do mentors have for us? How do we navigate the complexities of our relationship with mentors?

Once we understand why we date and how to pursue someone we want to date, we are stuck wondering how do we date in a way that works? We so often make mistakes in dating that leave behind scars, so how do we date in a way that brings growth and healing?

Parents can complicate our lives. They keep us from doing the things we want, embarrass us, and seem to hold us back. So what is the point of following them? How do we navigate the complex relationship of our parents?

You think she is awesome. You think he is cute. You want to ask her out. You want him to ask you out. But how? How do we pursue the one we want to date?

Siblings are the relationships we are forced to have that we get no say in. Our siblings are annoying, embarrassing, and tiring. So how do we navigate the most annoying relationship in our lives?

We all have a desire to be in a relationship with someone, but why? Why do we want to date, and what should we be dating for?

Our friends are one of our most important, special, and influential relationships, but how do we navigate these friendships that get complicated? How do we handle change? Fights? And feelings that come up that are stronger than friendship?

The Avengers is a franchise that shows us how complicated life becomes when we are thrown together with random people. In looking at these movies though we begin to see that living in community may have something very important for our lives that God is calling us to.

We all have dreams. We all have desires. We live our lives to have these dreams and desires become reality, but is it ever enough? We look at The Great Gatsby to try and discover what God teaches about the problem of living for your dreams and desires.

The Gospel is what we live our lives for, but we so often miss it. The Gospel can be found anywhere though, and should be noticed and change our lives. So what does the movie The Lorax teach us about the Gospel?
